SUGI GUITARS & BASSES are Japan's premiere luthiers of custom shop instruments. Makoto Sugimoto (known as 'Nick') is the maestro of the workshop with his superior techniques being much in demand by other makers and aspiring luthiers. Nick travels the world searching for the most impressive woods and works them into unique works of musical art. This bass guitar is on display in the shop to demonstrate the quality of Makoto's work. You are welcome to play it to inform your own custom order. An instrument with these rare woods and this level of artistic finishing will cost approximately £6500. Further upgardes might include an elaborate fretboard inlay.
Spec: This is a light-weight instrument with a really easy action with DD 45-130 strings. We ordered it for the shop stock after Makoto showed us a really special piece of Redwood. It has a Swamp Ash body, Maple/Walnut set neck with Luminlay side dots and Ripple Ebony board. There is a Satin finish throughout. The frets are hand-rounded. The fixings are Custom Gotoh. The pickups are Sugi handwound with silver wire interconnects. The control bay is coated in a special paint for rf shielding.

A guitar with these rare woods and this level of artistic finishing will cost approximately £6000. Further upgardes might include an elaborate fretboard inlay or perhaps a Flamed Maple neck (see the Mt. Sugi guitar on our Youtube feed).

Spec: Exotic Maple top with the Dusk Show theme inspired by one of Makoto's photos. Sinker Mahogany body. Sinker Maple neck (flat U shape). Ebony board. Hand-rounded frets. Custom Gotoh fixings - locking tuners (SGS510) and trem (VG300XC). Sugi pickups (LH35/62). Luminlay side dots. Bolt-on neck. Versatile tones and a pleasure to play (strings Optiweb 9-42). The control bay is coated in a special paint for rf shielding.
